W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas to be full resort operation16 August 2018(PRESS RELEASE) -- SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino announced today the W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas will be integrated into the full resort operation and called The Grand Tower as of Friday, 17 August 2018. Additionally, SLS Las Vegas will assume full operational control of the resort’s reservations system from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and the SLS Las Vegas brand will discontinue membership as a Starwood Tribute Portfolio Hotel & Resort. “We are excited to integrate the Four Diamond W Hotel into our SLS operations,” said Paul Hobson, General Manager of SLS Las Vegas. “We look forward to repatriating this wonderful hotel within the existing SLS resort experience and building upon the service excellence guests have come to expect from the W.” The Grand Tower will continue as a Four Diamond experience for guests. Existing reservations for the W Las Vegas past the 17 August date of operational transfer will be honored. SLS Las Vegas will also assume operation of the Spa, Pool, Lounge and Meetings Space located within the Tower’s footprint. Current W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas team members have been invited to stay on with their employment either transferring to SLS Las Vegas or continuing with Marriott, the parent company of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Additionally, SLS Las Vegas will assume operational control of the resort’s hotel reservations system from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. New reservations made with Marriott or SPG reward points will no longer be accepted, however reservations made with points prior to the August 17 date of operational transfer will be honored. “Gaining full operational control of the resort is an exciting step in achieving the vision Mr. Meruelo has for this property,” Mr. Hobson continued. “Acting as a fully independent operator, we can continue to build upon the great foundation that has been set at SLS to create a unique, boutique experience for our guests unlike any other on the Las Vegas Strip.” The transfer of operations of the W Hotel to SLS Las Vegas along with the operational assumption of the hotel reservations system and the brand’s independence from Starwood’s Tribute Portfolio Hotels & Resorts are just the latest in a series of enhancements to the resort since Alex Meruelo acquired the property in April of this year. Mr. Meruelo has begun renovations to the property as part of an exciting $100 million re-imagining which includes plans to enhance the casino floor, room product, pool and entertainment venues. |
