VLT's highlight council meeting

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- As reported by the Saratogian: "Tonight's City Council meeting will include discussion on the city's fight to keep VLT revenue, parking deck advertising, the Lillian's parking lot and the Exit 14 informal park and ride outside the gates of Yaddo.

"Video lottery terminal revenue is the hot-button issue as Governor Eliot Spitzer's executive budget, issued last week, would amend the law that will send over $3 million to the city in June.

"If Spitzer's version passes, only Yonkers and Monticello, meeting a poverty test, would receive revenue as of 2008 to help mitigate gambling's impact in the community.

"Meanwhile Saratoga Springs would receive the money one-time only in June 2007 and would likely have to cut public spending to adjust to a downsized budget..."
