Vietnam casino refuses to pay $55 million prize

21 February 2011

VIETNAM -- A Vietnamese-American is suing a casino for refusing to pay out a slot machine prize, according to Vietnam Net.

Ly Sam was playing a machine at the Palazzo Club inside the 5-star Sheraton Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City in 2009 when the machine said he'd won the US$55.5 million cash prize, the report said.

The manager of the casino allegedly promised to pay out the jackpot within three days, but then Mr Sam received a letter claiming the machine was faulty, Vietnam Net said.

It is the largest disputed jackpot claim ever in Vietnam, the report noted.
