Viejas Casino & Resort attempts to break two Guinness World Records in one day9 September 2013SAN DIEGO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Viejas Casino & Resort, Southern California’s premier Four-Diamond gaming, dining and entertainment destination, is enlisting hundreds of guests, team members and community leaders in an attempt to break two Guinness World Records in a single day. At 9 a.m. on Friday, September 13, Viejas Casino & Resort will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Deck of Cards ever played…on the world’s Largest Blackjack Table. Each playing card measures over 3’ x 4’ and the massive table measures 2,200 square feet. The table is so large that the dealer will actually stand on the table to deal the record-breaking hand. An official adjudicator from the Guinness organization will fly in to witness the attempt and certify whether it was successful. After the official record-breaking attempt, Viejas Casino guests will have the opportunity to play a hand and be entered to win their share of a $22,000 jackpot later in the evening. Then, at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 13, Viejas Casino & Resort will attempt to set a new World Record for the most bottles of wine opened simultaneously. The famed Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas established the record last year – 308 bottles opened in under 30 seconds. But that record was then broken at a Wine Festival in Minneapolis in May of this year, when 474 wine bottles were uncorked simultaneously. So how many bottles will be uncorked at Viejas Casino & Resort on September 13? “We are expecting over 700 team members and guests, so we should have a great crowd for the record attempt,” said Viejas Casino & Resort General Manager, Chris Kelley. “How many bottles, exactly? We’ll have to wait and see, but given the spirit and determination of our community, I’m confident we will be setting a new World Record.” A wine and food pairing for all guests will follow the record-breaking attempt.
