Victorian pokie scheme overhauled31 May 2007VICTORIA, Australia -- As reported by the Age: "A scheme designed to pump millions of dollars of poker machine revenue into community-based programs and charities will be overhauled following concerns that gaming venues were spending too much on themselves. "The Victorian government on Wednesday announced it would review its Community Benefits Statements (CBS) scheme after last month's critical report by Monash University. "Victorian gaming venues claimed that $376 million was handed over for community benefit under the scheme, but just three per cent of this was actually directed to charities and community groups, the report said.
