Venetian Macao hosts football match

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS), parent company of The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, announced today that The Venetian Macao will serve as the title sponsor of The Venetian Macao Cup -- a football (soccer) match pitting English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United against the Chinese Super League's Shenzhen Football Club.

The battle for The Venetian Macao Cup will take place on July 23 at Macao Stadium. It will mark Manchester United's first ever appearance in Macao and their only appearance in China as part of the team's Asia Tour 2007.

Presenting a world-class game like this gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase another spectacular one-of-a-kind sporting event, especially one that caters to the region's passion for football," said William P. At a press conference in Macao announcing the match, Weidner said The Venetian Macao Cup represents the first salvo in a variety of events centered around the much-anticipated opening of The Venetian Macao - Macao's first true mega resort.

The Venetian Macao will be one of the largest hotels in Asia and will be Macao's first true mega-resort. It will feature 3,000 all-suite rooms, 1.2 million-square feet of meeting, convention and exhibition space, world-class entertainment in a 15,000-seat arena, and an impressive array of dining, shopping, and recreation options.
