Venetian Convention Center to Expand30 April 2002The Venetian hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip will add 150,000 square feet of convention space to its property with an expansion scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter. The firm will extend its Congress Center convention area, adding to the property's 1.7 million square feet of meeting space, which includes the adjacent Sands Exposition and Convention Center. The company did not disclose the amount of the construction contract, awarded to Schuff International Inc., Phoenix. The addition to the convention center is part of a phased expansion of The Venetian, which includes a 1,000-room tower and 1,000-space addition to the property's parking garage. The firm suspended construction of the hotel tower in the fourth quarter. Company officials would not say when construction on the tower would continue. |
