Vegas mayor honors women in poker

3 June 2009

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Honorable Mayor Oscar Goodman has declared June 5th Women in Poker Hall of Fame Day with a declaration of proclamation asking, "All Las Vegas citizens to acknowledge the contributions made by women in the gaming industry."

The Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHOF) dinner and dance presented by High Society Spirits and sponsored by Rockwell Time will celebrate the career accomplishments of three new inductees on Friday, June 5th at 6PM at the Golden Nugget. Joining the elite roster of time-honored women, are June Field, Jan Fisher, and Cyndy Violette.

Master of Ceremony Mike Sexton will open festivities with a red carpet walk featuring industry VIPs and professional poker players. The event is open to media and the public and will take place inside the Golden Nugget Casino's Augusta/Pebble Beach ballroom. Guests will enjoy an epicurean feast, no-host cocktails, music, and a silent auction sponsored by The Autograph Guys and local merchants. General admission is $90 at the door. All proceeds will benefit www.PokerGives.org.

The night before the WiPHoF dinner and dance, A "Shuffle Up for Poker Gives" charity tournament hosted by Mike Sexton will start at 7 PM, on Thursday, June 4th. The grand prize is an exclusive 2010 World Poker Tour ™ Celebrity Invitational entry, and first place prize money. Half of the prize pool will be distributed amongst the top ten finishers. All participants will receive a commemorative gift.

WPT Enterprises retains the right to substitute a comparable prize in the event a seat to the 2010 WPT Celebrity Invitational is unavailable for any reason.
