Vegas Magician Mauled

LAS VEGAS – As reported by the UK Sunday Mail: "A white tiger grabbed Las Vegas magician Roy Horn by the throat and threw him round like a bloody ragdoll in front of 1500 people.

"It happened as he celebrated his 59th birthday.

"Horn, of famous duo Siegfried & Roy, suffered ``massive blood loss'' and was last night fighting for his life in hospital after emergency surgery, authorities said.

"…Front row audience members thought it was part of the act and applauded as Horn tried to beat off the tiger with his microphone.

"The tiger, a seven-year-old male called Montecore, lunged as Horn announced the animal's debut in the act. He was alone on stage with it.

"…Partner Siegfried Fischbacher appeared on stage to call off the performance after the attack. The show has been cancelled indefinitely.

"Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman said darkhaired Horn had a serious injury to the left side of his neck and struggled to breathe as medics arrived, but spoke with staff on the way to University Medical Center, where he remains `critical'.

"…Together since 1957, German-born Siegfried and Roy entertain a million a year at the Mirage with their white tigers and lions and have a lifetime contract with the hotel…"
