Vancouver Slots Deal Derailed

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – As reported by the CBC: "The proposal to set up 600 slot machines at Vancouver's Plaza of Nations has effectively been killed by Vancouver city councillor Tim Louis.

"Council had narrowly approved the casino proposal after two nights of public hearings in January.

"…But Louis took advantage of the absence of one of his COPE party colleagues – Jim Green – to force a vote on the issue.

"…Mayor Larry Campbell was visibly upset with the move, accusing Louis of 'subverting a legal and binding vote.'…"
