Unopened table game ballots found

WEST VIRGINIA -- As reported by the Charleston Gazette: "Two Kanawha County officials disagree over the latest twist in the still-undecided referendum to allow table games at Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center in Nitro.

"County workers discovered 64 unopened ballots Monday morning, and County Commission President Kent Carper questions whether they should be counted.

"...But County Clerk Vera McCormick said the ballots found Monday were 'absolutely' sealed behind a locked door in her office.

"...Carper, however, criticized how the 64 early votes were handled. He says the ballots should have been secured behind proper lock and key with the other ballots.

"...After Saturday's election, supporters of table games held a razor-thin 33-vote advantage, but there are 513 challenged ballots, not counting the 64 found Monday..."
