Unions renew Foxwoods campaign31 May 2007CONNECTICUT -- As reported by the Hartford Courant: "The United Auto Workers and other unions have begun organizing at Foxwoods Resort Casino, an effort that Foxwoods is fighting with strong appeals to its 10,000 employees. "In a letter dated last Friday, John A. O'Brien, the Foxwoods president, said he was 'deeply concerned' with the efforts of organizers and urged employees not to sign authorization cards designed to force a vote on collective bargaining. "...Unions in the late-1990s tried to organize workers at Foxwoods, one of the largest employers in the state. Although unsuccessful then, organizers appear to have two new advantages: a recent federal court ruling and signs of dissatisfaction among some workers at the casino..." |
