Union throws more accusations at Foxwoods21 November 2007CONNECTICUT -- As reported by the Courant: "Labor organizers are accusing the management of Foxwoods Resort Casino of harassing Asian table-game dealers by singling them out for separate meetings in advance of a union vote Saturday. "Management rejected the accusations, saying the casino has been holding voluntary meetings in two languages, English and Mandarin, to explain its position against the formation of a union by table dealers at Foxwoods. "The casino said it typically offers work-related communications in Mandarin since Foxwoods has about 800 Asian dealers, many of whom speak Mandarin, said Saverio Mancini, a spokesman for the casino. "The United Auto Workers union, in a statement released Tuesday evening, charged that the meetings constitute racial harassment..." |
