UK public land sold off to casino developers7 February 2008UNITED KINGDOM -- As reported by the Wirral Globe: "Publicly-owned land will be sold off by the council to casino developers, the Globe can reveal. "The gamblers' paradise is part of an ambitious development for central Birkenhead. "...But the development will mean the borough has to flog prime town centre land to private operators. "A company called Europa Plaxa Developments Limited has entered three planning applications in relation to its proposed plan. "...But the council is refusing to say how the land will be sold for, saying it will be discussed in meetings from which the public are discluded because of commercial interest issues..." |
