UK Landmark Open to Casinos30 September 2005UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Hornsey and Crouch End Journal: "Alexandra Palace opened its arms to major investors for the first time in its history last week in a move that could see parts of the building turned into a hotel, cinema, shops, casino, amusement arcade or even an art gallery. "The Palace's board of trustees launched a campaign to attract big players in the leisure industry to buy a leasehold in the building to stabilise the Palace accounts - provided their plans allow public leisure and recreation. "…The trust launched the campaign to attract potential leaseholders as the first step towards making itself an independent profit-making concern. "…Leaseholders will have to work within the development restrictions of the largely Grade-II listed building, but will probably start operating between one and two years after winning the lease, said Mr Vail…" |
