UK Gambling Bills Critics to Argue Case8 January 2004UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the New Media Age: "Critics of Government plans to relax the gambling laws are due to give evidence to Parliament today (Thursday) about the draft Gambling Bill. "Proposals included in the Bill allow online casinos to be based in the UK for the first time, and update other aspects of remote gambling. "…The Salvation Army says that it believes 'the dangers inherent in Internet gambling may warrant its exclusion from the forms of gambling permitted in Britain'. "Meanwhile, the Royal College says the Government has been badly advised and increasing gambling opportunities 'inevitably leads to an increase in the number of those who gamble to such a degree that damage results.'…" |
