UK Gambling Bill Amended22 February 2005LONDON, UK -- As reported by the Scotsman: "Significant amendments to the Government's controversial Gambling Bill were announced in the Lords today by the minister responsible for gambling regulation, Lord McIntosh of Haringey, when he moved Second Reading. "Lord McIntosh, who is junior minister for Media, Culture and Sport, said the amendments would improve the Bill and would include: "A ban on the use of credit cards in casinos to buy gambling chips, or for use in gaming machines. "A ban on gambling premises offering opportunities to bet on Christmas Day. "Powers to allow the Government to impose a minimum age requirement on people using Category D gaming machines, if there is evidence that the machines are causing significant harm…" |
