UK Casino Panel Appointed

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the icWales: "An independent panel which will advise the Government on the location of new casinos has been appointed, it was announced today.

"The five-strong Casino Advisory Panel will start its considerations on Monday and is due to report by the end of 2006.

"Drawing on advice from the panel, Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell will in 2007 specify areas in England, Wales and Scotland for one so-called 'super-casino' and 16 other smaller ones.

"Culture minister Richard Caborn acknowledged the level of interest in the location of the super-casino, speculation about which has centred on locations including Blackpool and Glasgow.

"Members of the advisory panel include chair Professor Stephen Crow of Cardiff University and Deep Sagar, director of Glasgow Employer Coalition…"
