UK Bookmaker: One Race a Day is Fixed31 May 2004LONDON – As reported by the U.K. Guardian: "The integrity of horse racing was once again in question after the head of the leading British bookmakers claimed that at least one race every day in Britain is fixed. "Chris Bell, chief executive of Ladbrokes, made his comments in a BBC television program about betting exchanges, which allow punters to bet against each other or back a horse to lose, leading to accusations that the practice has increased corruption within racing. "Mr Bell said: 'I am personally convinced that at least a race a day, if not more, is now being corrupted by the availability of laying horses to lose on betting exchanges.'…" |
