UK Beach Gets Another Casino

ABERDEEN, United Kingdom – As reported by the UK Press and Journal: "Aberdeen beach could soon have three casinos within yards of each other after it emerged yesterday that another business wants to develop a seafront gambling centre.

"Edinburgh-based Noble Leisure's application for the Boardwalk at Codona's Amusement Park will be considered by Aberdeen City Council's planning committee next Thursday.

"It has received support from local businesses, although fears have been raised about the impact of increased opportunities for gambling, with long ranks of Las Vegas-style slot machines likely to dominate the casino.

"…The prospect of three beach casinos comes as the Government prepares to relax restrictions on the gaming industry, and mirrors the transformation of Atlantic City on the New Jersey coast from a nondescript town into a mini-Las Vegas after the US eased gambling laws.

"…Nearby businesses backed the application yesterday.

"…But concerns were expressed about addiction to gambling…"
