Two S.C. bars raided for illegal gambling

16 February 2009

SENECA, South Carolina -- As reported by the Anderson Independent-Mail: "Two bars were raided Thursday night in Seneca and found to be sites of illegal gambling, according to authorities.

"After receiving complaints, the Seneca Police Department narcotics division began an investigation. Undercover officers were able to enter the bars, where they observed illegal gambling and had the chance to participate in it for purposes of the investigation, according to officials.

"As a result, search warrants were executed Thursday night against My Kinda Bar and Blackey's, which both are on Main Street, Covington said.

"Authorities subsequently seized two gaming machines, one from each of the bars. Five individuals had been cited as of Friday afternoon with gaming and betting, and an undisclosed amount of money also was seized from the businesses, the chief said.

"Charges are pending against additional people, according to officials. The people cited Thursday were not incarcerated. The investigation is ongoing, officials said..."
