Turning Stone may turn wet18 July 2007VERONA, NEW YORK -- As reported by the Post-Standard: "Could alcohol finally be coming to Turning Stone Resort and Casino, just in time for September's PGA Tour event? The casino, dry since it opened in 1993, has told at least one member of its 19th-floor private club that alcohol is on the way by fall. The Oneida Indian Nation, which owns Turning Stone, has also posted signs throughout the resort asking people not to bring in alcohol while the nation negotiates a liquor license with the state. "'We believe this policy of not permitting alcoholic beverages onto our premises provides us an opportunity to reach an agreement with the state,' reads a statement on the nation's Web site and on restaurant tables at the resort. "...If Turning Stone does get a liquor license by mid-September, it would arrive just in time for the Turning Stone Resort Championship - a new event on the PGA Tour's Fall Series. Turning Stone officials say the event could draw 100,000 spectators..." |
