Turn $130 into $2 million at the LAPC

COMMERCE, California (PRESS RELEASE) - If you've ever harbored fantasies of taking a small amount of money and seeing it snowball into a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, then you won't want to miss Commerce Casino's First Step Tournaments during the prestigious 2009 LA Poker Classic (LAPC).

Each night from January 16 to February 19, at 6 and 9 p.m., Commerce will stage a $130 "First Step Tournament," so named because it's a first step on the way to potentially winning the $2-million Main Event prize pool, and a special bonus never before offered.

Here's how you can win your way to the top. Enter the $130 "First Step Tournament," emerge victorious and than capture one of Commerce's 11 $1,050 Mega Satellites. If you complete the trifecta of winning a $130 First Step, a $1,050 Mega Satellite, and the Commerce Main Event, you will take home an estimated $2,000,000 first prize -- plus a bonus $50,000.

"People win millions of dollars in WPT events and the Commerce Casino wants to give a huge bonus to anyone that does it during the LA Poker Classic," said LAPC Tournament Director Matt Savage.

This year's LA Poker Classic at Commerce Casino, the World's Largest Poker Room, is bigger and better than ever. In addition to its world renowned LAPC No Limit Hold'em Main Event,The Commerce is adding three prestigious new $10,000 Championship events in 2009--a Pot Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E. and a Heads-Up Championship-- to the casino's stellar world renowned LA Poker Classic No Limit Hold'em Championship Event-that gives those winners four exciting potentially million dollar tournaments from which to select. The $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship is televised on the World Poker TourĀ® (WPT), draws 600+ players from all over the world and has an expected $6 million total prize pool. The LAPC is the largest event each year on the World Poker Tour.

The LA Poker Classic (LAPC) spans January 22-March 2 and --with the addition of these three $10,000 events, plus guaranteed $300,000, $250,000 and $200,000 tournaments-- the event achieves a new level of worldwide recognition and appeal to poker players both locally and globally.

The 2008 LAPC handed out $12,977,200 to those among the 10,000 players that were in the money over the nearly 30 events. This year's edition will feature even more tournaments--35 events beginning with $335 buy-ins, rising up to the four $10,000 Championships. Highlights of the six week tournament include a $200,000 opening event, a $300,000 guaranteed Limit Hold'em, and the $250,000 guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em with rebuys.

Poker players can either buy-in or win their way into individual events by entering satellite tournaments. Scheduled now are No Limit Hold'em, Limit Hold'em, 7-Card Stud, Omaha 8 or Better, Omaha 8 or Better/Stud 8 or Better, Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold'em 6 Handed, No Limit Hold'em, Heads Up and H.O.R.S.E. tournaments. All tournaments will begin at 1 p.m. unless otherwise stated on the schedule. However, the LAPC No Limit Hold'em Championship starts at noon.
