Trump Reaches Last Minute Deal

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Last-minute negotiations with Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts netted a deal for the casino-hotel union late Thursday, as the union made final preparations for a strike expected to begin this morning.

"The 14,500 members of Local 54 of Unite Here have been working without a contract since Sept. 15. They are expected to strike the casino industry at 8 a.m.

"Several members of the union's contract committee confirmed Thursday that members would begin assembling at 5 a.m. At 6 a.m., off-duty workers are scheduled to form a picket line, and the strike is expected to be in full swing two hours later.

"Casinos that will be affected by the strike include Bally's Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort, Resorts Atlantic City, Harrah's Atlantic City, Showboat Casino Hotel and Tropicana Casino and Resort.

"…Local 54 contract committee member and executive board member Al Tabei said late Thursday night that intense negotiations over the past two days resulted in a three-year deal with Trump.

"…Tabei said the last-minute deal puts the union in a better position going into today's strike…"
