Trump Considers Philadelphia Slot Parlor

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Donald Trump, one of the best-known brands in the casino business, is shopping for a potential slots-parlor location at the former Budd Co. plant in the city's Nicetown section.

"That should come as good news to Gov. Rendell, who led the charge for legalized slot-machine gambling and who last month publicly implored Trump at his Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City to get into the Philadelphia market.

"Trump's flirtation with Philadelphia will have to wait until his company, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, emerges from federal bankruptcy later this month.

"The company was due to be reborn as Trump Entertainment Resorts on May 4 but bumped the date to today, only to postpone the action again yesterday.

"…Trump's company sent executives to meet last week with City Councilman Michael Nutter because the Budd site is in his district. Nutter said he had urged the company to meet with local community groups…"
