Tropicana Resurrects Holiday Tree31 October 2005ATLANTIC CITY – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Tropicana Casino and Resort proudly announces the resurrection of an age-old tradition to help kick off the 2005 holiday season. On Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 1:30 pm, Tropicana's 25' Holiday Tree, located in Fiesta Plaza at The Quarter, will officially become illuminated with the help of dignitaries from both the State and local governments, and famed comedian Charlie Prose. In conjunction with Tropicana's First Annual "Holiday Spectacular," the tree lighting ceremony will include performances by the cast of Broadway's Spirit of Christmas -- Tropicana's themed revue show, the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, famed Disneyland organist Rob Richards playing on the World's largest theater organ, and strolling violinist Colin Matthews. To help kick off the 2005 Holiday Season, Tropicana has teamed up with the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and Atlantic City Food Bank with a "Turkey Drive" on November 2. Any patron who brings a fresh or frozen turkey to the Tree Lighting Ceremony will receive one free ticket to Broadway's Spirit of Christmas. In lieu of a turkey, both the Rescue Mission and Food Bank will also accept a $10 donation. For each $10 donation and or turkey, Tropicana will offer one free ticket (no maximum). Ticket vouchers are valid through the run of the show (November 1 - December 3). The First Annual "Holiday Spectacular" at Tropicana will feature some of the areas most breathtaking decor and culinary displays. Guests and visitors can expect to see 25' sprawling trees, including a live Poinsettia tree in Crystal Court, dozens of heavily themed wreathes provided by the local MAPS Foundation (also available for purchase), numerous snow showers in Fiesta Plaza, enormous icicles and much more. A welcomed tradition at Tropicana, the Fourth Annual "Sounds of The Season" holiday concert series, presented by the MAPS Foundation, will begin December 1 and run through December 23. Featuring daily performances by local student bands and choir members in the Tiffany Lounge, the Sounds of The Seasons holiday concert series always brings warmth and cheer. Also part of the "Holiday Spectacular," Chefs from the entire Tropicana property will prepare themed culinary displays outside their venues. Guests and visitors to The Quarter and Tropicana will be treated to some of the most amazing artwork, using a variety of food items, including elaborate spun sugar displays from Brulee's Chef Jemal Edwards and a lifelike remake of The Quarter's interior, done in chocolate, from Tropicana's award-winning Pastry Chef, Cliff Butler. Look for the displays and presentations to open on December 1.
