Tropicana owner admits to mistakes

22 November 2007

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Admitting mistakes were made, the owner of Tropicana Casino and Resort said changes are under way to woo back customers and "stabilize the ship" after a rocky 11 months of operation.

"At the same time, William J. Yung III was quick to blame labor unions, negative news reports and the casino's former president for a loss of business during his reign.

"Yung also asserted that hundreds of layoffs made by his company were not the cause of customer complaints of poor service or declining revenue at the 2,000-room casino hotel.

"...Tropicana is planning a new marketing campaign to recapture customers who were lost when the casino's former president, Fred A. Buro, fired key members of the player development staff and replaced them with 'his friends,' Yung said.

"...Outlining Tropicana's turnaround strategy, Yung said the casino will beef up the player development staff and increase its promotional giveaways in hopes of rebuilding its customer base..."
