Tribe Offer to Negotiate with California

SACRAMENTO, California – As reported by the Associated Press: "Ten of the 94 California Indian tribes that have or want casinos said Friday they are willing to negotiate with new Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who made obtaining a `fair share' of their gambling profits a key campaign promise.

"In a letter to Schwarzenegger, the 10 said they are open to giving the state a portion of the revenue that would be produced if they are allowed to operate additional slot machines.

"…They are the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe, Fort Mojave Tribe, Rincon Band of Mission Indians, Alturas Rancheria, Mechoopda Tribe of Chico Rancheria, Susanville Rancheria, Picayune Rancheria, Buena Vista Rancheria, La Posta Band of Mission Indians and Elem Indian Colony of Pomo Indians."
