Tourist Isolated Suspected of Having SARS7 May 2003LAS VEGAS – As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal: ``A Las Vegas tourist who could be infected with SARS is in isolation at an undisclosed location, health officials said Monday. ``Saying that public health is not in jeopardy, the Clark County Health District released few details about the latest suspected case. The tourist in question, who arrived in Las Vegas alone by car and had limited contact with the public, has agreed to isolation for at least 10 days and does not need hospitalization, Clark County Health District spokeswoman Jennifer Sizemore said. ```The individual is mildly ill,' she said. 'It's a suspected case because of a low-grade fever and a recent trip to Asia. The patient is not being isolated in any public accommodations or hotel.' ``…SARS has killed 461 people worldwide, but there have been no deaths due to the illness in the United States. ``…SARS symptoms are similar to those of the common cold or flu, such as a low-grade fever and cough. More serious symptoms can include breathing difficulties…" |
