TouchPlay owners form group

IOWA – As reported by the Des Moines Register: "Owners of the controversial TouchPlay lottery machines vowed earlier this year to make the slot-machine-like gambling game an issue in the Nov. 7 election, and they've delivered on that pledge with a vengeance.

"The owners have formed a political action committee, named Revenues for Main Street Iowa, and have raised about $77,000 since July.

"So far, the PAC has contributed about $54,000, primarily to Democratic legislative candidates. Chet Culver, the Democratic candidate for governor, has received $11,000 from the PAC, and Rep. Kevin McCarthy of Des Moines has received $17,500.

"Culver also has received $25,000 from TouchPlay machine owner William Krause and his son, Kyle

"…Last spring, after the Legislature suddenly pulled the plug on the TouchPlay machines, which operated in a similar manner to slot machines, the companies that had invested heavily in the games promised to organize themselves and try to affect the November election…"
