Toronto's Move for More Woodbine Slots Revenue Could Fail

CANADA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: ``A push by Toronto to gain a larger share of the projected $286-million in gross slots revenue from Woodbine racetrack is expected to fail.

``The city had hoped to take in an extra $7.6-million annually through the Ontario provincial government approving more slots at Woodbine and granting Toronto 5% of the resulting gross revenue, the Toronto Star reports. Although the government is reviewing its gaming policy, Brad Duguid, parliamentary secretary to Municipal Affairs Minister John Gerretsen, stated that the city should not expect a larger cut of the revenue even if slots at Woodbine are expanded…"
