Tom Dreesen to bring Sinatra stories to Cherokee Casino & Hotel

8 December 2015

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Touring with Frank Sinatra for 14 years offers an opportunity for wonderful, sometimes uproarious stories. What better way to celebrate Sinatra's 100th birthday this month than to hear those stories by renowned comedian and former tour-mate Tom Dreesen.

Dreesen brings his fondest memories and comedic style to Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs on Dec. 19. The free admission show "An Evening of Laughter And Memories of Sinatra" begins at 9 p.m. at SEVEN Bar.

Dreesen grew up in Harvey, Illinois southwest suburb of Chicago. While working as an insurance salesman in 1968, he met Tim Reid through a local youth leadership organization, and the two teamed up as Tim and Tom, the first biracial stand-up comedy duo in the United States.

After four years touring together, the pair began struggling to make a living and split up in the mid-1970s. Dreesen soon became a regular on "The Tonight Show" and began touring.

Sinatra caught a show by the young comedian and immediately added his stand-up act to his tour. Dreesen began to watch Sinatra from the wings every performance. Dreesen's fondest memories of spending time with Sinatra are both personal and intimate.

In 1989, Dreesen released the comedy album "That White Boy's Crazy" through Flying Fish Records. He is also involved in philanthropic endeavors and hosts an annual golf tournament called the Tom Dreesen Celebrity Classic.

In 2008, Dreesen, Reid and former Chicago Sun-Times sportswriter Ron Rapoport collaborated on the book "Tim and Tom" and Tom: An American Comedy in Black and White."

Dreesen has made more than 500 appearance on national television and has appeared in the television series "Columbo," "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "Murder, She Wrote," and in such films as "Spaceballs," "The Rat Pack" and "Trouble with the Curve."
