Tinian casino project on hold because of Saipan gaming bill10 December 2007SAIPAN -- As reported by the Saipan Tribune: "A Tinian casino plan has been put on hold because of a legislative move to legalize gaming on Saipan. "Bridge Investment Group had scheduled its groundbreaking ceremony for the casino project for Dec. 28, 2007. But the event was postponed after the House of Representatives passed House Bill 15-322 on Wednesday. "...The measure was approved by the House on Wednesday, with only Tinian Rep. Edwin Aldan voting against it. The bill will become law once approved by the Senate and signed by the governor. "...Bridge Investment plans to build a hotel casino on a 50,000-square property about three miles south of Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino..." "...On Nov. 3, Saipan voters overwhelmingly rejected a constitutional amendment to legalize casinos on the island..." |
