TicketsWest.com to Present Cabaret at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas3 August 2000SPOKANE, Washington –(Press Release)-- Aug. 3, 2000 -- TicketsWest.com(TM), an operating division of WestCoast Hospitality Corporation (NYSE: WEH - news), today announced that its WestCoast Entertainment presenting division will partner with the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to present CABARET at the MGM's EFX Theatre. CABARET, the revolutionary reincarnation of the classic Kander and Ebb musical, winner of four Tony Awards, comes to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, ``The City of Entertainment,'' in the EFX Theatre August 30-September 3. Tickets go on sale Saturday, August 5 through MGM Grand Reservations. The limited premiere engagement, produced by the SFX Theatrical Group, in association with Eric and Scott Nederlander & Jujamcyn Productions and the Roundabout Theatre Company, stars Miss America 1998 Kate Shindle as Sally Bowles and Jon Peterson as The Emcee. With music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff, CABARET tells the story of an English woman's romance with an American writer set against the background of a crumbling Germany at the start of the Third Reich. CABARET features some of the best-known songs in musical theatre, including ``Willkommen,'' ``Tomorrow Belongs to Me,'' ``Money'' and ``Cabaret.'' Kate Shindle joins CABARET directly from Broadway's Jekyll & Hyde where she understudied the role of Lucy. British Director Sam Mendes received a Tony nomination for his American directing debut with the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of CABARET. Mendes won an Academy Award for Best Direction for his directorial debut of American Beauty for Dreamworks Entertainment starring Annette Bening and Kevin Spacey. This is WestCoast Entertainment's second presentation in partnership with the MGM Grand and will be the first time ever that CABARET has been presented in Las Vegas. |
