Three Tennessee businesses closed in gambling bust28 January 2009MURFREESBORO, Tennessee –- As reported by The Tennessean: "Three local businesses were temporarily closed Tuesday evening after Murfreesboro Police Detectives conducted an investigation into illegal gambling operations at the sites, according to spokesman Kyle Evans. "Discount Tobacco, Beer and Groceries at 1600 Memorial Blvd., Kwik Sak at 904 N.W. Broad St. and The Tobacco Outlet at 1945 N.W. Broad St. were all closed as a result of MPD's investigation, according to Evans. "'Several people have been charged with aggravated gambling promotion,' he said. "Some were arrested on possession of gambling devices. Several thousands of dollars in cash were recovered from the businesses.' "A complete list of persons charged and a list of charges were not immediately available late Tuesday as police were still rounding up suspects, according to Evans. Four persons had been arrested as of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday..." |
