Three horses die on Ladies Day at Grand National

9 April 2010

INTREE, England -- As British horse racing's premier event gets underway concern is rising for safety due to "dangerously fast ground conditions" The Daily Mail reported.

Ladies Day, a traditional dress-up day, saw three horses die Friday, The Daily Mail reported.

The usually warm weather has made the ground conditions very dry, the report explained.

With forty horses charging at high speed towards the first fence jump safety is a concern, the Daily Mail said.

The favourite to win is Big Fella Thanks (7-1) ridden by Irish jockey Ruby Walsh, The Daily Mail reported.
