This Week in Gambling: Midweek Vegas casino closures

11 November 2020

Most popular casinos in Las Vegas have reopened since June. But with the pandemic still raging, a second round of Vegas casino closures is now taking place. Plus, one big Las Vegas company is considering leaving over coronavirus concerns. We also gave sports betting and gambling news from all over America.

Just when you thought things were starting to get back to normal comes word of new Las Vegas casino closures. The Park MGM will temporarily close midweek as the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed tourism. The Park MGM hotel just reopened on Sept. 30 after a Coronavirus shutdown. The hotel will close from noon Mondays to noon Thursdays, the Review-Journal reported, citing a letter to staff from MGM Resorts

It’s not the only Las Vegas casino closure during the week, either. Wynn Resort’s Encore is also closed Mondays through Thursdays, according to the report. Sand’s Palazzo hasn’t taken weekday reservations since July. Nevada officials allowed casinos to reopen in June, but visitors have been slow to return.

Two Caesars Entertainment properties, the LINQ Hotel and Experience and Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, are only accepting weekend hotel reservations. Meanwhile, NoMad Las Vegas, another MGM hotel located on the upper floors of the Park MGM building, will remain open midweek, according to the report. Other hotel facilities like the casino, pool, restaurants and amenities will also remain open.
