Third Club Member Pleads Guilty5 March 2004PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Morning Call: "Habouk Shumar wanted to make one thing clear Thursday as he pleaded guilty to gambling and money laundering charges. "Yes, he was part of a multi-million-dollar illegal video poker operation. And yes, he and his partner made a low-level worker in their vending machine business a 'subvendor,' who collected the gambling proceeds and laundered the money. "But they didn't do so, Shumar argued, to insulate themselves from scrutiny. "Shumar is the third of four men pleading guilty this week in the case of the Order of Fleas, a private club in Easton that was home for nine years to the video poker operation…" |
