Third Cleveland Casino Plan Submitted

CLEVELAND, Ohio – As reported by the Plain Dealer: "Business leaders put the money squeeze on racetrack owners and Cleveland's would-be casino developers on Tuesday, submitting a third casino plan to the state.

"The Greater Cleveland Partnership submitted ballot language that mimics a plan from the Learn and Earn Committee, which is proposing 10 slots parlors statewide.

"There's one big difference - Cleveland leaders want a $30 million fee at each site, for local economic development. Other plans don't call for such fees.

"Business leaders, Cuyahoga County commissioners and Mayor Frank Jackson have been negotiating for months with the Learn and Earn campaign, which includes businessman Jeff Jacobs and Forest City Enterprises Inc.

"Commissioners appear to favor the demand for a licensing fee. Jackson had no statement to make on the debate, a spokesman said…"
