The Reel Life: Your phone a friend can't include Santa24 December 2014A New Jersey mother of three learned this week that the state's laws against talking on a cell phone while driving always apply, even if you're on the phone with Santa Clause himself. Rachel (whose last name was withheld, as she didn't want to end up on the Naughty List) made good on her threat to call the big guy when her children, aged 6, 4 and 2, didn't shape up in the back of her minivan. Unfortunately for Rachel, Santa wasn't the only one who was watching. “I passed a police officer — he was hiding behind a church — and so I threw my phone down,” Rachel told The Trentonian's Jeff Edelstein. “My 4-year-old thought I hung up on Santa. And I’m sure the officer thought I was involved in a heated conversation.” She ended up getting a $145 fine for having an inspection that was past due.
