The Reel Life: Thai painting edition

21 June 2012

When the Reel Life isn't spinning the online slots, we like to watch a little television. Two of our favorites are America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent, where contestants come in, perform their act, and three semi-famous judges vote on whether they advance to the next round or not.

Until this week, we didn't know there was a Thai version of the show, called Thailand's Got Talent. The show has three judges -- two men and one woman. One of the judges looks like a Thai version of David Hasselhoff.

The reason we know this is Thailand's Got Talent has gone viral. Last weekend, 23-year-old Duangjai Jansaunoi walked on stage wearing a checked man's dress shirt and jeans. She said hello to the judges (well, we're not sure what she said because she was speaking Thai, but it looked like hello). After exchanging pleasantries, the dance music started and she turned her back to the crowd to paint a yellow outline of a person.

After painting the outline -- and with her back still facing the audience, she took off her shirt, unhooked her bra and doused her bare torso with cans of different colored paint. She turned around so the audience could see her topless self covered with paint, and then turned back to the canvas and used her breasts to paint/fill in the yellow outline.

The audience cheered her on. But one female judge was not amused. She buzzed her, and walked off the set after the remaining male judges voted her through.

Show producers were eventually reprimanded by the government. But all the Reel Life could do is wonder how Howard Stern would have handled this.

So the next time you sit down to watch America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent or Thailand's Got Talent, remember that these shows are much like the online slots you play. They always have the capacity to surprise you.
