The Reel Life: Ruined breathalyzer edition

23 August 2012

If the Reel Life has said it once, we've said it 1,000 times: Don't drink and drive. But we have to say, a 26-year-old New Zealand man had perhaps one of the most entertaining reactions to be arrested for drunk driving we've seen.

Let's start with the not-so-funny bit: Scott Thompson ran his car right into an old woman's home and later tested at three times the legal limit. However, once at the police station, Thompson decided he just couldn't hold it any longer and urinated into a box of breath screening tubes, used to determine the BAC of suspected drunk drivers.

Thompson was ordered to pay $1,500 in damages to the woman whose house he damaged and $109 to police for the contaminated screening tubes.

Thankfully, Thompson's license was suspended for a full year. Let's hope he keeps every part of his body away from a breathalyzer test for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Thompson's breathalyzer test wasn't as entertaining as this fictional DUI arrest, courtesy of Comedy Central's Reno: 911.
