The Reel Life: Learn how to propose edition7 August 2013The Reel Life knows a thing or two about proposing. 1. Know what the answer is going to be in advance. 2. Propose in a fashion that your soon to be spouse is going to appreciate. 3. If you don't know the answer, don't propose in a crowded, public place. 4. Don't propose at a sports stadium (unless it's empty and you have a candlelit table in the middle of the field/pitch) or on the jumbtron. That's it. Those are the rules of proposing. Not very complicated right? But in case anyone still didn't get it, a Connecticut minor league baseball team staged one of the greatest hoaxes to reinforce the message. As the Daily Mail reports, "David" thought it would be a good idea to bring his girlfriend onto the field, get on one knee and propose to her -- with the crowd watching, a mascot hovering nearby and the cameras rolling. Unfortunately for David, his "beloved" wasn't ready to be betrothed. After rejecting the proposal, she sprinted out of the stadium with a look of horror on her face. The crowd, not knowing it was a hoax, gasped as they watched the scene unfold before them. The team later revealed that they had staged the whole thing. The team didn't reveal it was a publicity stunt until the YouTube video of the event had racked up more than 700,000 views. Some would suggest that real lessons here are you can never believe anything you see on the Internet or at a minor league baseball game. But those people would be wrong. The real lesson is learn the rules of proposing. That way, you won't end up being a real life version of "Dave."
