In a clear publicity stunt, The Powder Room cocktail bar has announced an over-the-top milkshake costing $500 to mark its official opening on Nov. 22. The shake will include premium spirits, Belgian chocolate and, of course, edible gold -- because who doesn't want gold in their ice cream? And if that wasn't enough, the milkshake will be garnished with a $190 Swarovski Nirvana Montana blue crystal ring. So, technically, those who buy the treat will spend $310 on the milkshake and the rest on a gaudy piece of jewelry. "We wanted to offer an experience where guests could take something special home with them, and it's perfect for a bachelorette party or a special occasion," bar owner John Arakaki told ABC News. Sure, it's perfect for that special occasion when you just want to behave like an irrational human being for no particular reason. The Reel Life has had some excellent milkshakes in our day, but we've never dug deeper than $10 for one. Put all the gold and jewelry you want in a shake, and we still won't be able to tell the difference between that and a Wendy's Frosty. But Hollywood will be Hollywood, we suppose.
