The Reel Life: Detroit or bust edition25 July 2013Don't get drunk and swim across the Detroit River. No, this isn't the end a hilarious DirecTV ad. It's sound advice after Canadian John Morillo was arrested for doing exactly that. According to the Windsor Star, Morillo had been boasting for years that he could easily swim across the Detroit River from Windsor (for the geographically challenged, that's in Canada) to Detroit (not in Canada). And after drinking 8 beers one night last week, he finally took the plunge. Unfortunately for him though, a neighbor who was trying to watch him complete the feat called the police 30 minutes after losing sight of him in the river. That call, according the Windsor Star, prompted a search and rescue mission involving a helicopter and the coast guards from both countries. Morillo, who says he made it to Detroit -- he claims he climbed a ladder near the Renaissance Center to get to shore -- was picked up near the Windsor shore line and charged with "being intoxicated in a public place" and faces fines for swimming in a shipping channel. But he wants everyone to know he made it to Detroit. "If I'm going to be in the paper, I'd at least like them to say I actually made it, even though I got in trouble and everything," Morillo told the Windsor Star. "I gotta pay fines and stuff. But I don’t want it to sound like I didn't make it, because then my buddies are going to say 'ha, ha, you didn’t make it.' Because that was the whole thing, to show them I could do it." People are generally warned not to make the swim because a dangerously strong undertow in the shipping channel poses a serious safety risk. And the Detroit River is pretty nasty (The Reel Life knows from personal experience with it). And while Morillo's friends might be impressed with the stunt, Morillo's mom isn't. "She just hung up on me," the 47-year-old Morillo told the Windsor Star. "She said 'you're just so stupid.'" Get in the fast lane Grandma, this bingo game is ready to roll In an agrarian society, there's nothing like the promise and romance of harvest season to get the juices flowing. Crazy Vegas Casino tries to capture that magical mix in its new video slot, Sweet Harvest. The five-reel, 20-payline game debuts in August and displays symbols depicting lush crops and young farmer love. You can nab a doubling multiplier when the hot farmer's daughter and the roguish farmer land next to each other on the screen. Other combinations trigger bonus screens and free-spin rounds. So if you're a fan of farm life, head over Crazy Vegas Casino next month and give Sweet Harvest a spin. You might find it entertaining and rewarding.
