The Reel Life: Decimals matter edition

11 April 2013

The Reel Life has had its issues with decimal problems in the past. There's the $500 phone bill that was supposed to be $50, the shirt that was supposed to be $19.99, but rang up for $199.90 at the register and the $4 drink the waitress changed to a $40 drink. But those decimal mistakes don't even come close to the one a 51-year-old Toronto woman made.

Maria Carreiro thought she had won $40,000 while playing the lottery. She told her daughter she won $40,000. The daughter calls her sister to tell her that their mom had won $40,000. And then the daughter goes to the computer to double check the amount of the winnings.

Carreiro didn't win $40,000. She won $40 million. Those pesky decimal points.

Carreiro then called her husband to tell him the good news, reports the National Post. But he didn't believe her until he saw the winning ticket himself.

Then he quit his job.

Carreiro says she plans on giving the money to her kids and grandkids. Good for her. And remember Reel Lifers, watch those pesky decimal points. It might save you -- or make you -- a few bucks in the future.

Get in the fast lane, Grandma, this bingo game is ready to roll

Red Flush Casino is adding the fun video slot "Girls with Guns - Jungle Heat" to its lineup.

The five-reel, 243 ways-to-Win game features six military-minded femmes fatales on a jungle hunt for the evil drug baron Hector's base camp.

The animation, widescreen resolution and sound effects in this brand new game create a high level of entertainment as cigar-smoking Katherine and her team of Maria, Kira, Alex, Zoe and Jess make life uncomfortable for the baddies, disrupting their activities and generally creating marvelous mayhem.
