The Reel Life

26 August 2010

Funny as it seems, The Reel Life actually has a real life -- and we use our alarm clock each day like everyone else. And sometimes we've missed our alarm. That said, we've never had to suffer a punishment like the one Jim Furyk did this week.

Jim Furyk is one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour. He has won over $3 million this year and nearly $50 million in his career. He is currently in the hunt to win the FedEx Cup, which carriers a prize of $10 million.

Furyk was in New York to compete in The Barclays this weekend. He had a pro-am on Wednesday, which was a mandatory requirement for about half the field. His tee time was at 7:30 a.m.

According to the Huffington Post, Furyk "awoke at 7:23 a.m. to find out that his phone had lost power. He threw on some clothes and shoes, bolted out of his hotel room and rushed to (the golf course), arriving at 7:35 a.m. The pro-am was a shotgun start that began at 7:30 a.m. Furyk was to start on the 11th hole, and he realized when he arrived that he had no chance of getting there on time. Furyk was in such a rush that he did not put on a belt or socks, and he still had not tied his shoes."

The penalty for missing a pro-am? Automatic disqualification from the tournament.

Furyk said he understood the penalty, and that the worst part of the DQ was "to possibly, severely hurt a good year...I played my heart out all year. I've got no one to blame but myself."

The Reel Life commends Furyk taking responsibility for his actions. We'd also like to pat ourselves on the back for not having a financial incentive on Furyk this week (unlike another former Casino City colleague who shall remain nameless).

Get in the fast lane grandma, the Bingo game is ready to roll!

It's going to be real Hollywood up in here

Intercasino has recently launched the latest additions to its Hollywood Jackpot series of online slot games.

Film buffs don't have to be in the Chicago area to be fans of the "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" 25-line game, which includes actual clips from the movie as well as "Fake the Parents" and "Kick the Car" features.

"Conan the Barbarian" is also sure to be a hot favorite with new and existing players alike.

In addition to its fun new Hollywood Jackpot slots, Intertops has a new sports-themed game. Those looking to cure a World Cup hangover can try out "Football Frenzy," which features the "Free Kick Frenzy" competition and an option to customize your game play with players' national team.

Feel feel feel, feel my heat

Action is heating up at Vegas Palms Casino, and three slots in particular are especially hot.

"Lumber Cats" "Dragon's Lady" and "Halloweenies" have all seen strong jackpots pay out recently.

On the other hand, "Celtic Cross", "Magic Spell" and "Monster Meteors" have been ice cold.

So when you head to Vegas Palms Casino, choose your slots wisely.
