The Reel Life

19 November 2009

The Reel Life has never been mistaken for a male model. We've never been mistaken for a Cyclops either. We're sort of in the middle, like most people. A British bank robber's appearance is certainly not in the middle, and leans heavily towards the Cyclops.

David Holyoak, 33, began a three-and-a-half year jail sentence for robbery this week, which isn't really big news. So why did Metro newspaper in London run a story about Holyoak? Well, because his nickname is "Shrek" and was called "one of the ugliest robbers in the country" by a Manchester police officer.

Holyoak was a part of a gang who robbed a Halifax bank. However, he was easy to identify as one of the robbers by an eyewitness who got a description of him, and his ears.

"This man only needs to look at himself in the mirror to realize crime is not for him," a police officer told the Metro. "With his big ears and rotund features he stands out a mile, and the officers have no trouble spotting him. He must be a total liability when he is part of a gang."

This is yet another reason why The Reel Life has stayed away from a life of crime. Being arrested is bad enough. Being mocked about your looks is even worse.

A winning Formula

Casino Club crowned its second big winner in two weeks as a woman known only as Ms. P hit a €76,000 jackpot at the slot game Formula X.

Two weeks ago a Casino Club player hit the jackpot at the Roman Empire slot game and won €309,000.

"Our latest big winner has been a member since 2005," says Marc West, the Casino Club Manager. "During her winning session, she bet 200, which demonstrates that at Casino Club, you can hit it big even with a relatively small amount."

Congrats to Ms. P!
