The Reel Life

22 October 2009

The Reel Life has never called 911 because we've never been involved in a major emergency. We've been tempted to call when a hot online slot froze up, but we were able to step back and realize how absurd that phone call would sound. A Japanese man has called the emergency hotline a little more than we have. Try 12,300 times more.

According to Japan Today, Hisao Sumitani, 61, was arrested this week for obstruction of duty after he allegedly called the 110 emergency number 12,300 times between December 2006 and September 2009. The resident of Otsu has admitted to the charge but claims the "whole case is ridiculous," according to police.

Japan Today says that Sumitani "would shout into the phone at operators, and is accused of disrupting their duty." To top it all off, he also called the 119 number to his local fire department 1,390 times.

Authorities visited Sumitani four times to ask him to stop. They were unsuccessful.

The Reel Life in no way condones the actions of Sumitani, and we hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That being said, we have to admire his righteousness. Because when you call an emergency number over 12,000 times, get charged for it, and then call the case "ridiculous," you must believe in something.

Get in the fast lane grandma, the Bingo game is ready to roll!

She's heating up

If Marv Albert was doing play-by-play at Royal Vegas Online Casino, he would say that Australian player Chontel B. is "on fire."

The Aussie scooped up a progressive jackpot win of $28,316 on the Major Millions 5-Reel Drive bonus slot on October 16th. This big win came barely two months after her impressive $33,000 car win in the Grand Slam of Slots Tournament.

Chontel B. had her ticket punched to the Grand Slam of Slots finals after her $33,000 car win, so her latest jackpot is just icing on the cake.

In the coming days she will tackle the Grand Slam of Slot finals, with a huge €1 million grand prize ready to be claimed.

Good luck!
