The Reel Life

2 October 2008

The Reel Life is mourning this week. No – no one took away our slots. We're in mourning because of the recent passing of amateur chef Andrew Lee.

Lee, according to published reports in the U.K., was a very competitive person, who was engaged in a contest with his girlfriend's brother to see who could eat the hottest chili sauce. So he prepared a tomato sauce spiked with red chilies and brought a jar of it over to his girlfriend's house, where he challenged her brother to have some.

Lee had some himself, and later that night complained about an itching feeling all over his body, before falling asleep. Unfortunately, Lee never woke up – and the spicy chilies are a prime suspect.

We're not sure if Lee played the online slots. We don't even know Lee. But we do admire his competitive spirit. It's that spirit that keeps us going when the slots running cold. It's the same spirit that keeps us in the hunt looking for that big jackpot. And thankfully, the online slots don't appear to be as dangerous as red-hot chilies. So in honor of the spirit of Andrew Lee, we bring you the excitement that winning can bring and new games to generate the drama.

Elizabeth J couldn't believe her eyes when she won £15,408 playing Jackpotjoy's Bingo Gold.

"I had to do a triple take," Elizabeth said after her big score. "At the time I was watching a film because I'd pre-booked the tickets. Then I had a quick glance at the screen and I saw my username and so I started watching and when I realised I had won my heart started pounding."

"It was amazing," Elizabeth added. "The first thing I did was to ring up my children and then my sister. They were all pleased for me. It's nice when you win so you can help others, my children will benefit from this the most."
